Avoiding Buyer Remorse.

If you were to ask me how I like being a Real Estate Agent I would say, I love it! But if you were to ask me on a deeper level I would say, my whole life I have always loved to help people. I enjoy forming a meaningful relationship and having deeper conversations with people, and Real Estate provides me with that opportunity everyday. I get the opportunity to help people make one of the biggest decisions that one makes in a lifetime and be there to guide them through the biggest purchase of their lives. A little bit about me, I know but that leads me into this week's article topic - Avoiding Buyers Remorse, so let’s dive in shall we!

When looking to purchase a home whether it be a first home, a second or third or even perhaps an investment property the goal is to find you the best home for YOU! Buyers remorse is every purchaser's worst nightmare. It is important to take the proper steps and trust the home searching process to find the best home. I have compiled a few tips and tricks to help you stay on track and achieve that end goal of finding the home you love!

When scrolling through the newest listings it is easy to get dragged into the rabbit hole of looking at homes that are beyond your budget. This can make looking at what is achievable seem less than. Having a realistic idea of what your budget, is step number one. Fight the urge to look at the homes that are listed far beyond your price range. Step number two goes hand in hand with step number one which is, clarifying your ‘must-haves and nice-to-haves’. Consider how these things compliment your established budget and determine what is achievable. If living in New Hamburg is a MUST then focus on listings in New Hamburg and not Stratford. With a little bit of patience and just the right amount of time the home you’ve been waiting for will come up.

Choose a trusted Real Estate professional to help guide you. Notice the key word there as guide and not push. Interview some potential candidates that you are considering hiring to assist you in your home search. Beyond local market knowledge and credibility - look for qualities that sit well with you. How were you hoping to feel after speaking with them and how did you feel? Are you looking for a more corporate or friendly relationship or maybe something in the middle, no one answer is wrong nor right, it is all preference. You want to feel comfortable with the service you are being provided. Choosing an agent that understands the market you are searching in will help you to prevent overpaying for a home, and choosing an agent that understands and cares about your end goal will help you pay the right price for the right home.
